"Hello world!" So goes many a "Fisher-Price's My First Blog I Coded In HTML" project yet here I am introducing you to my latest online endeavor: 2021 SOUNDTRACKS.

In 2020, I started doing the "One Second Everyday" project my former art director at Chestnut Hill College has been hooked on for a hot minute. I knew I've always wanted to do these things because watching enough of these made me notice the beauty in the little things and the extravagance of the large: the hygge radiating from a snippet of a "storm outside the studio window" scene, the nostalgia from replaying the rat races of punk shows. Sometimes, I like to plug in a cryptic out-of-context clip of whatever movie or show I'm watching that day just to keep the people guessing. Whatever it is I jotted in my visual diary, I got this unique gratification from creating this time capsule in a medium I'm not always playing with, exercising my creativity in more ways than I already do.

I celebrated New Year's Eve with my new pod (I never figured it out all year because I spent most of my time inside and/or isolated, sue me) and reacquainted with someone who's incredibly musically inclined and talented. He's got this "Adventures In Music" playlist series where (I know I'm butchering this, he probably doesn't do exactly this) he adds new and eclectic tracks to playlists during periods of time and I got inspired, thinking "straight up, what if I documented songs that were the part of the soundtrack to my life the way I take daily videos for my One Second Everyday project?"

One of my goals in 2021 is to discover more new music — I did a great job doing that in 2020 when I dipped my toes into Chicago house music, jazz from Bobbi Humphrey to Lee Morgan, and electronic music outside of my usual EDM go-tos — and I knew this project was gonna be an excellent opportunity for me to try a new record or playlist more often. Sure enough, I got a cozy mix of new-visitors-turned-regulars with tried and true bangers, all of which I'd be able to tell you what was going on or what I was feeling the moment the song was on. Hopefully you enjoy some of these tracks the way I did.
